About

Arise Community Church is a Christian church plant that was founded in 2010, and launcehd the first service on October 2, 2011. We have been growing steadily, but are still considered a small church. We absolutely love it when people ask us what we are all about! Here are some questions that we can answer right now:

When and where are your services?

We meet at Shine Dance Studios on their closing hours, 6 South Jersey Ave., Setauket, NY 11733. There is a free cafe (bagels, donuts, treats, coffee, tea, hot coco, etc.) at 10am and our Service starts at 10:30am. Childcare is available, but children are more than welcome in the service!

Our first official service (our "Launch Day") was Sunday, October 2, 2011 at the Port Jeff Polish Hall in Port Jefferson Station, NY. Without them, we would not have had our start. They are a part of our history, and for that we are grateful.

If you were to sum it up in a few words, what is the goal of Arise Community Church?

The goal of Arise Community Church is to know Christ and to make Him known. We are here to introduce and re-introduce Jesus to the unchurched in our community. We want to send the message of Jesus Christ in practical ways that speak to our culture. We do this by inspiring others to Live Brave and do great things. We do this by emphasizing relationships over stale religion. We do this by providing a place where the unloved are loved, where the uninspired are inspired, and the unchurched are churched.

What does "unchurched" mean?

"Unchurched" is simply a term for people who don't have a church that they belong to. One person who does not have a church can have a completely different story than others. Some people that come to our church have never walked into one before ours. Others have walked away from the church. Some were hurt by the church. No matter the case, our church is here for those people. If that is you, join us on Sunday!

What does is mean to "Live Brave"?

Living Brave is about actually living an inspired life instead of just waiting to die. It’s about not being ashamed of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. It’s about having honor, faith, hope, and most of all, love. It’s about not backing down when times get rough. It’s about doing the right thing – especially when the right thing is the hardest thing. Living Brave is a call from God to His people to stand for Him, help others, and give Him glory. To live brave is to be transformed by God’s grace, being free from the chains of sin, supporting His amazing story. When you obey God’s call, you Live Brave.

What do you mean by "doing great things for Jesus"?

“Great things” can mean a number of different actions, lifestyle changes, and forms of worship. The vision is left broad so that the people of this community can apply the specific calling God has for their life with the much broader call to live a great life for Him. Any time people step out of their comfort zones, choose the right thing, follow God’s voice, or lay down their own agendas to live a life according to His example – they do great things. Any time people listen to God and do what He says – they do something great.

Where did the name "Arise Community Church" come from?

“Arise” comes from the first word in Isaiah 60, a prophetic chapter about God’s people coming together for His glory. It is also a call for the community in which we serve. People on Long Island have been beaten down by life, and the call to “arise” and enter into the life the Lord has for His people will be mentioned any time somebody speaks the name of the church. It is a constant reminder of God’s calling for us to live brave and live in the righteousness He has provided for us by the death and resurrection of His Son, Jesus Christ. The message is stated anytime the church’s name is mentioned: “Arise and be all that you dream” (quote from Arise, a song by Flyleaf).
